Besides the many programs described on this website, Williston-Immanuel United Church encourages and is supported by the activities of a number of action groups. Some have their own officers and treasuries; some gather regularly and others occasionally; and some simply pop-up to meet interests or needs when they arise. On a natural and regular basis new groups form as existing ones dissolve.
EARTHCARE (see Outreach and Mission)
FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK involves a dozen or so volunteers from the church to welcome, perform music, share artistic expressions and serve refreshments to and with the hundreds of Portland gallery visitors who walk the streets on the evenings of the first Friday of each month.
LaROMANA MISSION INVOLVEMENT TRIPS (see Outreach and Mission)
MEN'S BREAKFAST GROUP will meet on the 4th Saturday morning of each month beginning March 27, at 8:30 a.m. A home-made breakfast, active fellowship, ping pong and pool, plus a devotional conversation, all will take place for an hour-and-a-half. Men of whatever age are enthusiastically invited to come to the Church's Fellowship Hall off the parking lot, and to bring friends. Please phone in reservations to Rob Warner, 571-9670.
THEOLOGICAL ROUND TABLE meets occasionally for theologically trained as well as interested lay people who are members of Immanuel, plus their invited friends from other denominations, to deliberate on pre-announced theological subjects. (The nagging problem facing this group is that there is not a round table in the church, so square ones suffice!)
UNOFFICIAL CLERGY HELPERS volunteer from the dozen or more members of Williston-Immanuel United Church who are ordained clergy (American Baptist, United Methodist, UCC) as well as any seminarian, offering their leadership in preaching when the Pastor is unavailable or conducting the wedding of any non-IBC couple who requests the church for a marriage ceremony.
WORKERS IN FAITH (called "The Elves" in the 1980's, and "The Beavers" in the 1990S') is a group of custodial volunteers who step forward at the bidding of The Property Committee when non-professional repair and maintenance tasks need to be addressed, including interior decorating, gardening and landscaping.

WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP OF WILLISTON-IMMANUEL On the 4th Wednesday of each month, the Women's Fellowship of W-I United meets in the Church Parlors at noon, for lunch, inspirational discussions, guest speakers, and occasional musical treats. Every woman of the church, as well as any guests she might invite, is enthusiastically welcomed. Please phone Sylvia Nickels for more information at 797-5366.
